#Xiaomi #Redmi 5 launched in #India

As expected, Xiaomi launched the Redmi 5 smartphone today in India. This is the same device that was first launched in December last year in China. It will be available in Black, Gold, Rose Gold, and Lake Blue color options. The Redmi 5 comes in 2GB, 3GB, and 4GB RAM variants and is priced at Rs. 7,999, Rs. 8,999, and Rs. 10,999 respectively. Apart from the smaller form factor and single LED flash on the rear, the Redmi 5 looks exactly similar to the recently launched Redmi Note 5.
Unlike the Redmi Note 5, the Redmi 5 comes with a metal finish body and plastic frame. The Redmi 5 is also said to be the slimmest Redmi smartphone ever launched. Talking about the specifications, the smartphone comes with a 5.7-inch 18:9 display and offers HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) resolution. It is powered by 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU.
As said earlier, the Redmi 5 comes with 2GB/3GB/4GB RAM and 16GB/32GB/64GB of internal storage. There is also a MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage. In the camera department, the Redmi 5 and Redmi Note 5 shares the same camera sensors. There is a 12MP camera on the rear with f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP selfie camera on the front with Beauty Mode 3.0. Both the front and rear cameras on this device come accompanied by a LED flash.
While the Redmi Note 5 came with a 4,000mAh battery, the Redmi 5 with smaller form factor packs a 3,300mAh battery. It runs on Android 7.1 Nougat based MIUI 9 out of the box. There is also a fingerprint sensor placed on the rear of the device. It comes with a hybrid SIM card slot, where the user has to choose between the secondary SIM or the MicroSD card. The device measures 151.8 × 72.8 × 7.7 mm and weighs 157 grams.
Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, IR Blaster, 3.5mm Audio jack, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. Xiaomi is also offering an ultra-slim protective case for the Redmi 5 within the box. The Redmi 5 will be sold via from Amazon.in, Mi.com, and Mi Home stores starting March 20th.
