Huawei will be launching the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro smartphones on March 27th in Paris, France. As we have seen in several leaks and rumors, these new smartphones will be coming with display notch & glass back body. On the front, we will be looking at a 6.1-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ (2280 x 1080 pixels) resolution & 19:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the devices will come powered by HiSilicon Kirin 970 octa-core processor coupled with a dedicated NPU and Mali-G72 MP12 GPU.
While the Huawei P20 comes with dual camera setup on the rear, the Huawei P20 Pro will sport a triple camera setup. Just like other flagship Huawei smartphones, the company will be co-developing the cameras on the Huawei P20 devices with the German company Leica. On the front, the Huawei P20 Pro sports a whopping 24MP selfie camera. It will come with “Light Fusion” mode for capturing clearer and brighter selfies even in low light conditions.
Taling about the rear cameras, the Huawei P20 sports triple cameras featuring 40MP primary sensor, 20MP monochrome sensor, and an 8MP telephoto sensor. All these three sensors will be accompanied by laser autofocus & IR-RGB sensor. We expect the primary and telephoto sensors on the P20 Pro to come with f/1.6 and f/2.4 aperture respectively. With the “Pro Night Mode,” the smartphone is also mentioned to capture photos with 100% more light.
While the 8MP telephoto sensor offers 3X lossless optical zoom, the P20 Pro will be including 5X hybrid zoom. The hybrid zoom enlarges the photo captured with the telephoto lens and uses software processing for adding the high-resolution data from other sensors. The “AI Camera Assist” feature on the P20 Pro will help in instant scene detection and auto framing. The Honor View 10 and Huawei Mate 10 smartphones powered by Kirin 970 processor also offered similar features.
Based on the leaks, the device will be available in Ceramic Black, Midnight Blue, and Twilight color options. It will be running on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMUI 8.1 out of the box. With 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, the Huawei P20 Pro is expected to cost EUR 899 (approx $1100 / Rs. 72,500) in Europe. There is no 3.5mm audio jack on this device, and the users have to share the single USB Type-C 3.1 port for charging and connecting headsets.
