#Gmail Go app

Google’s Gmail Go app for smartphones with low RAM is now available in the Google Play Store. Google had already released Assistant Go, Gboard Go, YouTube Go, Maps Go and Files Go applications, and now the Gmail Go is also available. Now, these applications are aimed to be used by smartphones which are running Android Go version of Android, which is a special, light version of Android Google announced back at Google I/O 2017, and it was released at the end of last year.
At the moment, not a single Android Go smartphone has been announced, but Nokia is allegedly working on one, the Nokia 1, while ASUS’ Android Go smartphone surfaced yesterday as well. The Gmail Go app is considerably lighter than the regular Gmail application, which is the whole point of a ‘Go’ version of the app. E-mail search function is available in this application, as it is in the regular app, though do keep in mind that this app does not support Drive attachments and an option to send an receive money. Gmail Go brings 15GB of free storage on Google Drive, just like the regular application, and it supports multiple accounts, while you can set up both Gmail and non-Gmail addresses if you want. Interestingly enough, you can use this app both online and offline. It is worth noting, however, that the app is now available for devices which don’t run Android 8.1 Oreo OS and have low RAM on those phones, well, at least officially, you can always try to sideload it and see if it will work on your phone, and it should. The design of this app resembles the regular Gmail app quite a bit, so you’ll be aware of what app this is the moment you turn it on, presuming you have used Gmail.
Chances are that we’ll see quite a few Android Go smartphones this year, as phones with 1GB of RAM are still in high-demand in some regions, mainly developing markets. It remains to be seen who will be the first smartphone manufacturer to release an Android Go handset, though, as Nokia does seem to be in the lead at the moment, but info regarding ASUS’ device did come as a surprise, and ASUS could trump Nokia and be the first to cross the finish line, we’ll see.
