Google has officially mentioned that the original Quality unlimited photo uploads from the latest Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will have an expiration date of 2020, after which the picture upload will be allowed in slightly lower ‘high-quality’ resolution instead of Original. Post this announcement; there has been slight confusion about the position of last year’s Pixel as they never had any such limit.
With the same concern in mind, Android Police has reached out to a representative at Google for some clarity for which Google has clarified that nothing has changed with the 2016 Pixels and both the Pixels will continue to receive a free unlimited original quality photo and video uploads with no time limitation.
Meaning, the Photos feature of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL with a limit until January 2021 isn’t as good as last year Pixels. That said, the Picture quality and count uploaded to photos wouldn’t change before 2020 and will only come to effect on the uploads after 2020 which will be limited to ‘high-quality’.
A confirmation coming from Google should be reassuring for the people who were confused on hearing the new development with the new Pixels that were introduced earlier this month.
