#ASUS #ZenFone 3 & 4 series will get #Android O #update

Android O update will the Pixel smartphones later this month or at least that’s what we expect. However, apart from that, we had no other official confirmation on any other smartphones receiving the Android O update, but now we do. Yes, the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer ASUS has confirmed that the entire ZenFone 3, as well as the ZenFone 4 series, will get the Android O update.
The same has been confirmed by the company official earlier yesterday at the launch of the ZenFone 4 launch. It has been reported that the entire series will be updated to the Android O and all of them will run the latest version of custom UI as well. So essentially, all these devices will run ZenUI 4.0 on top of the stock Android O build.
Not just that, the company also said that they are planning to cut down a lot of bloatware as well. This is definitely a great news since we all know that ASUS smartphones always had a lot of unwanted bloatware which we quite hard to get rid of. For those of you who don’t know, the ZenUI 3.5 had a total of 35 pre-installed apps and now ASUS has reported that this will be reduced to a great extent and the new ZenUI 4 will have only 13 pre-installed apps. If you do the math, this comes down to about 63-percent decrease in bloatware, which is a great news.
Apart from that, the company also said that the new ZenUI will have few new features such as Twin Apps and bookmarking app Page Marker, etc. Twin app is similar to what we on a few other smartphones as well and it will essentially allow you to two version of the same app. So basically, users will be able to have two facebook account, etc. Other than that, the new ZenUI 4.0 will also have the Android O’s picture-in-picture mode, with which users can watch videos in floating window.
And as far as the update timeline is concerned, ASUS aims to update all of these devices to the latest version of Android by the second half of 2018. Yes, we still have a long wait, but considering the fact that Android O is not even available for any other smartphone, we are glad that ASUS stepped up its game and announced the update.
