Microsoft today announced that it will roll out its Anniversary update on August 2nd. The latest update that was announced at the //Build 2016 conference brings improvements to the Hello login feature, Cortana voice assistant, Microsoft Edge browser, adds advanced security features for consumers and enterprises, offers new gaming experiences and more.
Microsoft announced Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (WDATP) back in March. Microsoft will launch two major new security features in this update.
The anniversary update will bring the WDATP enterprise security feature that detects, investigates, and responds to advanced malicious attacks on networks by providing a more comprehensive threat intelligence and attack detection. “WDATP now covers more than 700,000 endpoints and is being used in pilots by more than 300 active enterprises participating in 70 countries around the world,” said the company.
The Enterprise Data Protection that has been renamed to Windows Information Protection will enable businesses to separate personal and organizational data and help protect corporate data where ever it goes.
Microsoft also said that Windows 10 is now running on more than 350 million active devices worldwide after 11 months of its launch. Its free upgrade offer is available till July 29 that would allow existing users of Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 to upgrade for free.
To celebrate this, Microsoft has introduced some additional special offers that lets students get $300 discount when buying an Xbox One and Surface together at Microsoft Stores.
