#GMAIL VERSION 7.7

Gmail's web interface is massively customizable and offers an assortment of features to fit the preferences of almost any user. The same can't really be said about the mobile app. It's not that we need or should even have the same breadth of options, but there are certainly a few things that belong on both platforms. The latest update to Gmail's Android app reveals that it will soon offer the same inbox sorting methods that are currently offered on the web.

New inbox types

Most Gmail users have probably never looked into the large array of settings available on the web interface, and even for those that have, the screenshot above may not look very familiar. That's because it's the kind of option people set once and never look back. The setting is referred to as your inbox type, but it's really about sorting messages with certain criteria to the top. The web interface offers five options, but the mobile app is restricted to just two: Default and Priority.

n the latest update, new strings were added for the three missing options: Important, Unread, and Starred. Just like Gmail's web interface, the default will still be "Default inbox," the standard reverse chronological order we're probably all still using.

Download

The APK is signed by Google and upgrades your existing app. The cryptographic signature guarantees that the file is safe to install and was not tampered with in any way. Rather than wait for Google to push this download to your devices, which can take days, download and install it just like any other APK.
